1950- No Automation but Systemized Operations

– Initially developed systems were able to manage Trip Components but were missing in streamlining inventory & Passengers Management Challenges. And this process takes an agent 90 minutes & More per customer per booking to complete

1952 – American Airlines installed the Magnetronic Reservisor ,

– An electromechanical system of vacuum tubes and magnetic storage drums that allowed airlines to store seat availability on a centralized platform.

◦Helped in reducing the time to complete the booking

◦Availability can be checked quickly for airline seats.

-Upto 2000 Flights were available –

  • But – Only 31 Days Availability is Possible
  • Still Manual Process
  • Also need Reservisor Agent to Book run the system

1952 -World First Computerized Reservation System (CRS)– Reservec

– Same Time in 1952 TCA- Trans Canada Airlines also launched World First – Computerized Reservation System – Reservec- Reservation Electronically Controlled.

1953- The First GDS Sabre

The First GDS Sabre development started, As American Airlines invested in the development of Own Computer Reservation System in partnership with IBM ◦Till 1960 other airlines were also running on computer reservation systems.
